When you give in honor of a friend or family member, VOM will acknowledge your gift by sending that person a Christmas card. When you give in memory of a loved one, you can specify someone to receive the card as an acknowledgment.

Bring Light to the World’s Spiritually Darkest Places

This Christmas, you can share the gift of God’s Word in hostile areas and restricted nations like China, Pakistan and Sierra Leone.

The Chinese Communist Party has used a combination of tactics to cause a shortage of Bibles, but thousands of Bibles are distributed each year by front-line workers willing to risk imprisonment and heavy fines.

In Sierra Leone, a front-line worker visited a remote community earlier this year, traveling by truck and then motorcycle for hours over a series of rough dirt roads and paths. After the worker arrived, he met with a group of Christians who were gathering for a baptism ceremony. By the time they arrived, the sun had set. “Using the motorcycle’s lights, we had a beautiful baptism ceremony in which 31 believers entered into the baptism waters,” the front-line worker said. Afterward, the worker distributed audio Bibles to those who were baptized. “I witnessed the joy of these people receiving the Word of God in a way they can understand,” he said.

Nasr’s decision to become a follower of Christ angered Muslims in his neighborhood, so Islamists affiliated with al-Qaida in central Yemen attacked him. They dragged him out of his home and forced his wife, Yasmin, and their four children to witness his execution.

The global body of Christ helped Yasmin and her children move to another part of the country where they are safer and where the local community of Christians helps care for them.

You Can Stand with Them

Every aspect of VOM’s work serves our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. When you stand with persecuted Christians through giving to VOM’s Global Ministry, your faithful gift will help our brothers and sisters in ways like these:

  • Distributing Bibles in predominantly Muslim areas of Kenya and Ethiopia. Last year, courageous Christians distributed 800 Bibles in 11 communities, some of which are known to be hostile to the gospel.
  • Supporting Christians like Li Guiwen, a Christian leader among the Lisu people group in China. Li Guiwen was arrested and sentenced to six months in prison for opening his home for prayer and worship.
  • Equipping front-line workers like Pastor Joel of Cuba, who is reaching young people through sports ministry. Having left a promising career in baseball to answer God’s call to be a pastor, Joel now hosts athletic training camps where he teaches the Bible and shares the gospel through sports.
  • Sharing the stories of persecuted Christians so the body of Christ around the world can stand with them in prayer and fellowship. When Jampa, a front-line worker in the Tibetan Plateau, expressed the profound loneliness that he and his wife were experiencing in their ministry, he was overwhelmed to learn that members of the global body of Christ stood with them in prayer.

Christmas Blessings for Front-Line Workers

Aravind and his wife, Anjali, have served among a tribal group in western India for 15 years.

Since 2014, local police have worked with the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal to oppose their gospel work. Aravind has been beaten several times.

In October 2025, their church service was interrupted by a mob who beat Aravind severely and destroyed the couple’s house and the temporary church structure where they had met for worship. Police arrested Aravind, Anjali and eight other Christian women who spent five days in jail. Aravind still has not been granted bail.

Although imprisoned, Aravind’s work to advance the gospel has not stopped. “God has been our strength,” he said. “A lot of people arrested for other illegal activities got to hear the gospel from us.” You can help support our Christian brothers and sisters like Aravind and Anjali.

Encouragement Amid Suffering

While Christmas is a season for celebrating the birth of Christ, those who have suffered loss and persecution for their faith feel it even more acutely during the holidays.

A Muslim mob violently attacked a group of Christians in Ethiopia as they celebrated Christmas on Jan. 7, 2026, which is Christmas Day according to the Julian calendar used by Ethiopian Christians. Several believers were stabbed and hospitalized. The attack occurred in a region where the rise of radical Islam has resulted in routine attacks against Christians.

Your gifts to Persecution Response are used to assist with medical expenses, living expenses, children’s education needs, relocation, vocational training or other needs in the immediate aftermath of persecution and as long as the need exists. In 2025, VOM provided help and support to persecuted Christians in 67 countries who faced arrest, imprisonment, beatings, fines and other forms of oppression.

Our Christian brothers and sisters in hostile areas and restricted nations are often forced to flee their homes, taking only what they can carry and the clothes they are wearing. VOM Action Packs help provide basic necessities and demonstrate your love for persecuted Christians in a practical way.

For $50, you can sponsor an Action Pack. VOM workers will purchase daily necessities, including perishables and other items; fill the pack; and then distribute it to Christians.

Care for Christians Driven from Their Homes

Many Christians have been displaced in Niger, including farmers from rural areas who need to reach their farmland to harvest their crops but struggle to do so because of ongoing threats. Islamist fighters have been attacking Christians in western Niger and also in parts of Mali and Burkina Faso since 2017. “Christians are forced to leave their villages and all their belongings to save their lives from the death threats,” a front-line worker said. “Most of the Christian population has been displaced.”

When Christians are driven from their homes in Niger and other hostile areas and restricted nations because of their faith in Jesus, you can help meet their specific, immediate needs. Your gift provides basic necessities like:
