International Day of Prayer 2025 Near to the Brokenhearted
Over 4,000 internally displaced believers have fled widespread Islamist attacks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The church is under immense pressure in areas of eastern DRC that are controlled by Islamist militant groups.
As shown in this five-minute film, front-line workers like Daniel and Aline help bring comfort to our brothers and sisters in Christ who have suffered persecution and attacks.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
—Psalm 34:18
Questions for Reflection and Discussion
- How did God use Daniel and Aline to demonstrate to the persecuted Christians they met that “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit”?
- How might the Lord be leading you to pray specifically for front-line workers engaged in this type of ministry?
Pray
Pray that Christians in hostile areas and restricted nations, like those you met from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will stand firm in their faith when attacked. Pray that God will bring these brothers and sisters to full physical, emotional and spiritual wellness.
Pray that front-line workers, like Daniel and Aline, will have great wisdom and discernment as they encourage, listen to and pray with the brokenhearted.
