In the kingdom of Bhutan, where Buddhism is regarded as the only acceptable religion, Christians are often refused citizenship cards and other official documents needed for employment, education and most necessities. Pastor Deki and her son, Ratno, have been denied citizenship cards because of their Christian work. Pastor Nidup and his wife have been unable to get a marriage certificate, meaning their children are treated as “stateless.” The wife of another pastor has struggled renewing her visa to permit her to stay in the country. Pray that these faithful workers will be able to obtain the citizenship documents they need and that our Christian brothers and sisters in Bhutan will not be discouraged from being powerful witnesses for Christ amid this persecution.
