Kemi, her husband and several others were abducted in 2017 by radical Islamists. The militants killed most of the Christians, including Kemi’s husband, but spared Kemi. Instead, they marched her into the forest and abused her. For nine months she prayed that God would rescue her. One day, while fetching water, she was able to escape her captors. After living on wild fruit for three weeks, she finally stumbled onto a road, describing it as a miracle. Later she learned she was pregnant, and her community rejected her and the baby. Kemi became depressed, and she had trouble sleeping and taking care of herself and her child. With the help of VOM and a local counseling ministry, Kemi has received spiritual and emotional care. She can now sleep, work and serve in her local church. Front-line workers requested prayer for spiritual and emotional care for others like Kemi who have suffered for their faith.
