Muslims around the world will be observing Ramadan during
August by fasting and focusing on their spiritual lives. This is also a good
time for Christians to focus our prayers on the Muslim world.
The Christian ministry 30-Days International reminds
Christians to pray for the spread of the gospel and for more Christian workers among
Muslims. While recognizing the errors of Islam, Christians can focus on God’s
love for Muslims during this period of religious fervor.
30-Days International estimates that more Muslims have converted
to Christianity in the last 20 to 30 years than during any other time in
history, and more prayer efforts are focused on the Muslim world than ever
before. As we pray for Muslims around the world, our hearts and attitudes
change positively toward Muslims, and God often provides new opportunities to
share with Muslims.
Ramadan inspires
emotional excitement and religious zeal among Muslims, who generally believe
they can earn God’s approval through prayer, fasting and giving money. Fasting,
one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is one of the highest forms of Islamic
worship. Abstinence from earthly pleasures, such as food, and curbing evil
desires are regarded as acts of obedience and atonement for sins and mistakes.
Visit the 30-Day
International website for prayer resources. Then join with your brothers and
sisters in Christ and pray that Muslims might come to know the one true God.
