VOM Partners with OWU for the Persecuted Church
In 2003 The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) announced a partnership with Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OWU) to offer an undergraduate degree and certificate program in Christian Missions and Persecuted Church Ministry. Seven years later, the program continues to produce graduates who are uniquely equipped to minister inside restricted nations.
The program, the only of its kind in the world, teaches students the history of persecution while also providing practical tools to help them work with and support persecuted Christians around the world. The program represents the fulfillment of a dream of VOM’s founder, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who often questioned why Christian colleges and universities didn’t teach more about the persecuted church.
“This program provides the intellectual breadth of a liberal arts degree and includes practicum experience directed by VOM staff at VOM’s ministry center in Bartlesville,” an OWU spokesman said. “The program provides the intellectual and spiritual breadth as well as practical skills necessary to those who are called by God to serve, to minister, to teach, and to speak for the Christian brothers and sisters who live and worship God under restricted or hostile governments.”
The degree and certificate programs provide students with materials, resources and opportunities to partner with VOM.
VOM and OWU began to offer the undergraduate degree in 2003. The certificate program was started in 2006 and a correspondence version in 2008. For additional information on the program, visit the
OWU Web site.
