Mohammed Said Zao, a prominent Christian rights activist in Morocco, survived a knife attack on the evening of Nov. 4.
Mohammed has been featured in many televised interviews about comparative religion and has been outspoken about religious freedom.
When he arrived at his apartment in Casablanca at 10 p.m. on Nov. 4, a man with a long knife or sword came out of a nearby parked car and tried to stab him. Mohammed quickly opened the door to the apartment building and shielded himself from the blade. The attacker reportedly shouted threats to Mohammed before finally leaving the scene.
“I will do it again!” a witness overheard the attacker say as he got back in his car.
Three days later, Mohammed reported the incident to police. However, authorities declined his report and said Mohammed was just a “trouble-maker.”
